YouSee Main Navigation

One navigation pattern to rule them all

1.7 million customers bring a lot of traffic to yousee.dk. Going through the data we observed that a large amount of these visitors had a hard time finding their way around. This was in turn due to a lack of a clear navigation scheme and a flat information architecture.

We set off to crunch the challenge with a full-fledged Design Sprint which concluded with the first of four user tests conducted before launching the final version across 5 independent CMS’s in May 2018.

Mobile First was one of our defining principles of the new design since we wanted all pages on the website to be equally accessible regardled of the user’s screen width. Another corner stone in the project was using micro interactions to aid understanding and awareness of context when navigating around on the site.

Crunching the Information Architecture was an exciting challenge in and of itself. By using card sorting and tree testing we found five main categories which could contain the complexity and diversity of the current content on the site.
